Young researchers

Julian Scharnowski (20 years old) from Baden-Württemberg received the Federal Minister of Education Award (Best Interdisciplinary Work). He designed a low-cost vacuum tweezer that uses negative pressure to precisely place tiny electronic components onto circuit boards, providing a simple solution for electronics manufacturing. Vincent Nack from Bavaria received the Federal Minister of Research Award (Most Innovative Work). The 19-year-old developed a telephone fraud protection system based on artificial intelligence. His self-programmed software automatically checks call text and identifies various deceptive tactics in real time.

In the "World of Work" subject area, Götz Anft (19 years old) from Lower Saxony won the national championship. He studied the moisture content of filaments used in 3D printing and analyzed the impact of different moisture levels in this linear plastic material on print quality and the mechanical properties of printed models. In the Mathematics/Computer Science category, Malte Rauschenbach (15 years old) from Bavaria won. He developed a converter-like tool that efficiently and energy-savingly transfers AI models to local hardware for different applications, offering an alternative for reducing the energy consumption of AI operations.
