en.Wedoany.com Reported - CNR International has restarted production at the Baobab oilfield in Block CI-40 offshore Côte d'Ivoire, following a life-extension refurbishment of the Baobab Ivoirien Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel at Drydocks World in Dubai. The vessel ceased operations in January 2025 and returned to Côte d'Ivoire in the second quarter of 2026, where it was moored and reconnected to the field's infrastructure.

Partner Vaalco Energy stated that four production wells have resumed oil output, with the remaining three wells expected to restart operations soon, and the field's performance is in line with expectations. The refurbishment of the Baobab oilfield aims to extend the FPSO's service life and support subsequent development drilling activities.

A new development drilling program (Phase 5) is expected to commence in the second half of 2026, including four production wells, two to three injection wells, and two workover operations, targeting increased output from the main area of the Baobab oilfield. Vaalco CEO George Maxwell said: "We have extended the license for Block CI-40 until 2038 and believe the Baobab oilfield holds significant development drilling potential."

Vaalco entered the Côte d'Ivoire market in 2024 and has since established operations in the country through development and exploration activities. The company stated that the resumption of production at the Baobab oilfield, along with recent drilling results in Gabon, is expected to support its growth plans for the remainder of 2026.
