en.Wedoany.com Reported - NOTA Group has completed the trial operation of a commercial 2G network deployed for JSC Rosgeology at the "Burguat" project in the Sakha (Yakutia) Republic. The network was deployed at a remote gold mining site approximately 170 kilometers from the town of Ust-Kuyga, with a project cost of around 10 million rubles.

Ilya Kravtsov, Director of Strategic Development at NOTA Group, stated that the project chose a 2G network over LTE due to the lack of ground-based infrastructure at the site, requiring satellite terminals with a transmission channel limited to 2.5 Mbps. At this speed, a 2G base station is more economically viable and fully meets technical specifications.

The network has been fully operational for about a year. According to Ilya Kravtsov, fuel and lubricant costs have been reduced by 24%, based on an annual cost of approximately 300 million rubles for fuel and lubricants. Due to monitoring that identified equipment idling, 12 units have been placed in standby mode. Additionally, work transparency has improved, as data previously recorded manually by employees in Excel is now automated, and communication speed between experts and the competence center has increased.

The project was completed under Arctic conditions. NOTA Group organized satellite channels and built a commercial 2G cellular network on this basis, providing mobile communication coverage for production areas. The network offers voice calls, SMS, and data transmission services for employees and contractors, while the infrastructure is also used for comprehensive monitoring of gold mining equipment.

Ayur Tsybikov, Managing Director of JSC Rosgeology, noted that the network launch addressed multiple production tasks, including ensuring communication and creating a technical foundation for equipment monitoring and production environment control. The network's performance during trial operation demonstrated that the chosen solution meets the conditions and task requirements of remote facilities. Previously, NOTA Group had undertaken similar projects on 2G and LTE networks, including collaborations with Polymetal on pLTE/4G networks, and with Regionstroy and MRTS (Mobile Radio Communication Systems) on 2G networks.
