en.Wedoany.com Reported - South Korea's Taihan Cable & Solution has signed memorandums of understanding with Belgium's Jan De Nul and the Netherlands' Boskalis to collaborate on high-voltage direct current (HVDC) submarine cable projects.

The signing ceremony took place on June 10 at the Korea-Europe Energy Transition Cooperation Forum held in Brussels. Taihan Cable stated that the cooperation will focus on HVDC submarine cables and related infrastructure, and jointly explore new business opportunities in the global energy transition and offshore power transmission market.

Taihan Cable noted that these agreements combine its cable manufacturing and project execution capabilities with the expertise of the two European companies in offshore wind power, marine engineering, and submarine cable installation, thereby strengthening its position in the global HVDC cable market.

In recent years, Taihan Cable has been continuously increasing its investment in the submarine cable sector. It is currently building a second submarine cable manufacturing plant in Dangjin, South Korea, which will be capable of producing 640 kV HVDC cables. The company has also enhanced its installation capabilities by acquiring the 10,000-ton class cable laying vessel (CLV) Skandi Connector. Its previously operated CLV Palos is described by Taihan Cable as South Korea's only dedicated cable laying vessel.

Taihan Cable stated that these investments are aimed at providing integrated manufacturing, transportation, and installation services for global offshore power transmission projects.
