en.Wedoany.com Reported - Pool, an image management tool developed by AI application studio Spinoff Studio, has officially launched. The app centralizes users' phone screenshots and leverages AI to identify and redirect content.

When using Pool, users need to grant the app access to their photos. Photos are moved into user-created "pools," which are specifically designed for items, places, or things users want to save long-term, and are automatically customized based on user behavior.

In the AI era, Pool is one of many tools redefining bookmarking functions. Startups like Mymind, Fabric, and Raindrop help users organize links, images, or other saved content, while Pool specializes in screenshots, using AI to help users rediscover and act on content they might revisit later. After importing a screenshot, Pool can track the original link associated with it. For example, if a user screenshots a product image, the app can link to the corresponding retailer's website; if they screenshot a recipe from Instagram, it can extract information such as ingredients and steps shared by the creator.

Pool co-founder Maxime Junique said that both he and co-founder Piet Terheyden faced a common problem: they would screenshot content they wanted to remember, but then struggled to find it again. Junique noted that the idea originally came from a conversation between the two founders at a co-working space a few years ago, when they asked friends and discovered that they, too, often forgot design inspirations or other types of creative ideas due to screenshots.

This app is the first product launched by Spinoff Studio, built by the founders in a few weeks about three years ago in Lisbon while they were living in a van. However, the team quickly realized they needed to create a revenue-generating product first, so they pivoted to B2B SaaS and shelved Pool. Other products subsequently built by the studio include CRM software Waitless, which was acquired last year. The key factor that reignited Pool was the maturity of AI technology. Junique told TechCrunch that they felt it was the perfect time to pursue the idea. He pointed out that current AI datasets on the market mainly revolve around productivity data such as emails, bank transactions, and chat logs, while the screenshot data handled by Pool represents an underexplored, deeply emotional dataset.

Pool's app treats screenshots as memories—some are more relevant in the present, while others fade over time. For example, if a user screenshots a barcode for an event ticket, the memory may automatically disappear after the event ends; if they screenshot a flyer from social media about an upcoming event, Pool's AI agent can find where to purchase tickets and link to the ticketing website. Users can search for content in Pool via search or the app's built-in AI assistant.

The two founders revealed that they plan to bring this concept into a second standalone app, which will function as a personal assistant. Currently, Pool's mascot is a rubber duck, which will become part of the brand for the future AI agent app. The founders are currently based in Lisbon and plan to travel to San Francisco in late May to meet with investors. The startup previously raised slightly over $2 million in seed funding from General Catalyst, Kima Ventures, Paris-based Source Ventures, and other angel investors, including Winston Du, Julian Blessin, and Thomas Ricouard. Pool is currently available for free download on iOS.
