en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Korea Software Copyright Association and the Korea Software Appraisal and Evaluation Society jointly announced on the 12th the establishment of the "Software Forensics Center" to address increasingly complex software disputes in the era of artificial intelligence (AI), providing professional forensic and appraisal services.

The two organizations held a plaque-unveiling ceremony on the same day and officially commenced operations. The first director of the center is jointly held by Lee Dong-gyu, head of the association's external cooperation office, and Kim Si-yeol, chairman of the society. Software disputes involve both technical expertise and legal judgment, particularly in areas such as copyright infringement, trade secret leakage, contract disputes, and similarity determination, where the demand for fact-finding and forensic services continues to grow.
The Software Forensics Center will focus on analyzing completed work volume and completion rates in software contract disputes, conducting software similarity analysis related to copyright, trade secrets, and patent disputes, as well as undertaking software development cost and value assessments, and other software information analysis tasks. The center plans to prioritize court-ordered appraisals under civil and criminal procedure laws, strengthening its role as a specialized appraisal institution.
Operations will be directly executed by a forensic expert team centered on the society's specialists. Through the joint operational structure of the association and the society, impartiality and credibility free from specific interest biases are ensured. The center is one of the core projects of the "Association 3.0" vision announced by the association earlier this year, aiming to transform the association from existing software copyright protection into a specialized institution for intelligent intellectual property protection in the AI era, with the center serving as the core infrastructure supporting this transformation.
Yoo Byung-han, chairman of the Korea Software Copyright Association, stated that while AI development accelerates industrial innovation, it also complicates rights disputes surrounding software. The Forensic Center, leveraging the integration of technology and law, will become a core professional institution for intelligent IP protection and the construction of a fair software ecosystem in the AI era.
