en.Wedoany.com Reported - The channel deepening and sand dredging and placement project at the Sebastian Inlet District in the USA has been officially completed. The south beach of the inlet has received over 250,000 cubic yards of bypass sand, and the channel depth has been maintained.

David Barney, Chairman of the Sebastian Inlet District, noted that bypassing sand to the downdrift beaches and maintaining the channel are crucial to ensuring the inlet continues to serve as a key economic driver for the region, a core mission of the district for 107 years.

The district's contractor, ATL Diversified, placed over 271,000 cubic yards of sand on the inlet's south beach, with 92,222 cubic yards transported by truck and the remaining 178,893 cubic yards sourced from the inlet channel and the adjacent underwater "sand trap." Additionally, ATL dredged and stored 37,550 cubic yards of sand at the Dredged Materials Management Area (DMMA) located north of Sebastian Inlet State Park, for future screening and beach placement.

The total cost of the project is approximately $8.5 million. Under the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Beach Management Funding Assistance Program, the entire project is eligible for at least 50% cost sharing.
