en.Wedoany.com Reported - A.P. Moller – Maersk announced that it will change the review and adjustment of fuel surcharges for its Greek operations from a monthly to a weekly basis. This change takes effect from June 29, 2026. Maersk stated that this move is a direct result of rising international oil costs due to political and military instability in the Middle East.

Under the new plan, the company will assess market conditions every Friday to determine applicable prices for the following week, temporarily suspending the usual cap on rate freezes. Maersk explained that the surcharge will be applied for as long as necessary to cover increased costs and will appear on invoices under the codes EFS (Export Fuel Surcharge) and IFS (Import Fuel Surcharge).

Although the maritime industry is generally on alert, Maersk confirmed that for the specific case of goods transported by truck (land) within Greece, the initial surcharge set for this week is 0%, so the sector will not face an immediate price increase. The company clarified that the final charge strictly depends on the official date of cargo registration. For voyages regulated by U.S. laws, the updated rates have already been calculated in advance.

Maersk stated that it will continue to review logistics conditions in each country on a case-by-case basis, aiming to make necessary adjustments according to the evolution of international conflicts and ensure the normal operation of the supply chain.
