en.Wedoany.com Reported - PT Pelindo Regional 2 Pontianak Group has completed its first container loading and unloading operation at the Kijing Terminal (Terminal de Kijing) for PT Pulau Laut Line, marking a key step for West Kalimantan's largest port in its transformation into an international logistics and commercial hub.

The first container service was implemented on the Pasir Gudang-Batam-Kijing-ICA-Kijing-Pasir Gudang route, unloading 70 empty containers. Previously, Pelindo Regional 2 Pontianak had completed preparatory work including installation, equipment, systems, and regulatory compliance. Kalbar Yanto, General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Pontianak, stated that this service is a strategic achievement in consolidating the Kijing Terminal as a modern logistics center for West Kalimantan. Yanto noted that the launch of the Kijing Terminal will facilitate logistics flow, enhance regional export competitiveness, and drive local economic growth and investment.

Pelindo is continuously improving facilities and equipment to bring Kijing Terminal services up to international standards. Yanto said the service will provide enterprises with more efficient logistics solutions and is expected to become a key logistics hub serving the industrial, trade, and import-export needs of West Kalimantan and surrounding areas. Pelindo will also strengthen cooperation with the government, enterprises, and various stakeholders to optimize the Kijing Terminal's role as an international trade gateway.

The Kijing Terminal, part of Indonesia's National Strategic Project (PSN), commenced operations on August 9, 2022. The terminal is equipped with comprehensive facilities capable of serving container ships, dry bulk carriers, liquid bulk carriers, and multipurpose vessels, with a throughput capacity of 100,000 deadweight tons. As of May 2026, the number of vessel calls reached 404, a year-on-year increase of 28.7%; dry bulk throughput grew by 96.3% to 1.57 million tons; and liquid bulk throughput increased by 80.8% to 1.07 million tons. The terminal is now equipped with handling equipment including mobile harbor cranes, telescopic stackers, tractors, 45-foot chassis, and a quayside container crane (QCC), the latter of which arrived in May 2026.

With the launch of container services, the Kijing Terminal is expected to further enhance domestic and international logistics connectivity and serve as an engine for economic growth in West Kalimantan.
