en.Wedoany.com Reported - Dimension News, Tesla officially launched the Model Y L in the US mainland and Puerto Rico markets on July 2. The new model is available for order as a "Launch Series," with a starting price of $61,990, offered exclusively in a single all-wheel-drive long-wheelbase version. This model was first launched in China in August 2025.
Compared to the standard Model Y, the Model Y L has a wheelbase extended by 150 mm to 3,040 mm, with an overall vehicle length increase of approximately 180 mm. The interior features a 2+2+2 six-seat layout, with two independent executive seats in the second row, supporting heating, ventilation, and one-touch folding functions. The third-row seats also come with heating, electric backrest adjustment, and child safety seat interfaces. In terms of performance, the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, with an EPA range of 325 miles (approximately 523 km). The vehicle is also equipped with adaptive suspension, a 19-speaker audio system, an 8-inch touchscreen in the second row, and a 50W wireless charging pad.
This pricing has drawn market attention. Previously, analysts predicted a US price of around $54,000 based on the premium level in the Chinese market, but the actual launch price is about $4,000 higher than the Model Y Performance ($57,990). At the $61,990 price point, direct competitors to the Model Y L include the Kia EV9 (starting at $54,900) and the Hyundai Ioniq 9 (starting at $58,955). Market analysis suggests that Tesla typically enters with high-spec, high-price versions first, and may later introduce more cost-effective configurations. Initial deliveries are expected to begin between September and October this year.
