en.Wedoany.com Reported - Glenfarne Group's Texas LNG Brownsville has issued a limited notice to proceed (LNTP) to Kiewit Energy Group for the proposed Texas LNG project at the Port of Brownsville, Texas. Kiewit serves as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for this liquefied natural gas export terminal.

This LNTP covers long-lead equipment procurement, EPC phase engineering activities, and geotechnical work, aimed at preparing the project for full construction and a future final investment decision.
Brendan Duval, CEO and founder of Glenfarne, noted that the LNTP work and procurement orders reflect the strength of the project's world-class partner network and Glenfarne's rigorous approach to advancing the Texas LNG project. By progressing critical equipment, engineering, and site preparation work during the LNTP phase, the project maintains momentum, enhances execution certainty, and enables Texas LNG to efficiently transition into full construction.
In March 2026, Glenfarne signed a lump-sum turnkey contract with Kiewit for the EPC agreement. The company has also received authorization from the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to construct and operate the facility.
The procurement orders and engineering work approved under this LNTP build on previous milestones, with the project aiming to deliver low-emission U.S. LNG to international customers.
If completed, the Texas LNG export terminal will be located on the Brownsville Shipping Channel in Cameron County, with an expected capacity of 4 million tons of LNG per year. The facility is designed with electric motor-driven technology to reduce emissions.
In August 2024, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit vacated and remanded FERC's authorization for Texas LNG, citing a lack of supplemental environmental review and insufficient consideration of environmental justice and air quality issues.
Earlier this year, Texas LNG Brownsville signed a definitive 20-year sale and purchase agreement with RWE Supply & Trading to supply 1 million tons per year of LNG.
