en.Wedoany.com Reported - Woodfibre LNG has received authorization from Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) and, in accordance with the Squamish Nation Environmental Assessment Agreement (SNEAA), initiated limited underwater operations at its project site last month. The project joint venture stated that these limited underwater activities will focus on critical offshore infrastructure and pile installation, with all work conducted within the conditions and timelines set by the authorization and coordinated with the Squamish Nation.

Woodfibre LNG stated that the project is now over 65% complete and remains on track for completion by the end of 2027. There are currently over 1,300 workers on site, including 75 Indigenous workers, making it one of the largest construction projects in British Columbia. In a social media post, the company noted that the LNG project has been identified as a priority project for British Columbia under the new "Canada-British Columbia Cooperation Prosperity Agreement," which recognizes the role of LNG in strengthening the economy, diversifying exports, and supplying low-carbon energy to global markets.
In May of this year, Woodfibre LNG received the first seven modules from China at its LNG export facility site. These modules were built and transported by Qingdao McDermott Wuchuan (QMW), a joint venture between McDermott and China State Shipbuilding Corporation. QMW will construct a total of 19 modules for Woodfibre LNG, some weighing over 10,000 metric tons. Woodfibre LNG expects to receive all 19 modules by the end of this year.
