Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Delivers Two New LNG Carriers to PETRONAS

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. announced that the second new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, "Puteri Kedah," was delivered on June 30 at Shanghai's Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., following the delivery of its sister ship "Puteri Johor" on May 29. Both vessels are owned by a joint venture of Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha and delivered to PETRONAS LNG Ltd.

On April 30, the two vessels were named "Puteri Johor" and "Puteri Kedah" at a naming ceremony held at the shipyard. Representatives from PETRONAS LNG Ltd., Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, Bank of Communications Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd., China Merchants Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha attended the ceremony. "Puteri" means princess in Malay, "Johor" is the southernmost state of Malaysia, and "Kedah" is located in the northwestern part of the Malay Peninsula.

The delivery of the two new vessels will enhance PETRONAS LNG Ltd.'s fleet, supporting its reliable delivery of LNG to customers. In its medium-term management plan released in May 2022, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha identified the LNG business as the highest priority area for future investment. Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha stated that it will continue to respond to the diverse needs of its customers to expand long-term contracts and meet growing energy demand.
