en.Wedoany.com Reported - At the Nordex Business Day event held in Belgrade, the group disclosed its plans to accelerate expansion in the Balkan market to customers, partners, and subcontractors. In his opening address, Vladimir Kolarević, Managing Director of Nordex Serbia, noted that the company has achieved significant accomplishments over the past two years, which would not have been possible without the support of partners and customers.

Nordex accelerates expansion in the Balkans

The Nordex Group manufactures, installs, and maintains onshore wind turbines, with its first generator having been in operation for forty years. Currently, its Balkan operations cover Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Serbia, with this region falling under the broader Eastern Mediterranean area (including Greece). The company also operates in Turkey and Romania. CEO José Luis Blanco stated via video address that the Balkan region is becoming increasingly important to the company, noting steady year-on-year growth in the region since launching its first project in Croatia in 2013. Blanco pointed out that Nordex is supporting its customers in expanding into markets where the company has not yet established a presence, and that customers value not only the technology but also the company's understanding of local markets, its commitment to the region, and its capabilities as a long-term partner. Management confirmed that it has decided to enter the markets of Albania, North Macedonia, and Bulgaria, a move that will allow the company to cover nearly all of Southeast Europe.

Chief Commercial Officer Ibrahim Özarslan outlined the company's strategy in his speech, aiming to become the world's most customer-centric turbine manufacturer and original equipment manufacturer. He noted that Europe is the backbone of the Nordex Group, with 40 gigawatts of the global total installed capacity of 62 gigawatts (over 20,000 units) located there. The company also needs to scale up in Canada and the United States and plans to re-enter the Australian and New Zealand markets. Discussing the geopolitical situation, Özarslan stated that renewable energy is largely dependent on politics, and government changes can rapidly alter market dynamics, citing examples such as Germany and the United States. However, he emphasized that energy demand, the pursuit of energy independence, and the need for speed and affordability are no longer subject to political influence. He pointed out that renewable energy is becoming a fundamental factor in the energy sector, despite differences between countries.

Ibrahim Ozarslan Oezarslan Nordex Group Business Day Balkans

Özarslan revealed that Nordex achieved a 48% order share in Europe last year, securing this portion out of a total order volume of 19 gigawatts, marking the fourth consecutive time it has ranked first. Globally, 2025 was the best year in Özarslan's 28 years with the company, and 2026 is expected to be even better. According to pipeline data, installed capacity in Europe will grow by 37% over two years, reaching 58.5 gigawatts. Özarslan acknowledged that competition with Chinese original equipment manufacturers can sometimes be challenging, but the company is capable of handling it and learning from it.

Anne-Catherine de Tourtier, Vice President for the Mediterranean region, stated that the Balkans are becoming one of the highest-growth-potential regions for the Nordex Group and the renewable energy sector. She revealed that at the Tušnica project in Bosnia and Herzegovina (with a capacity of 72.6 megawatts), 4 out of 11 turbines have already been installed. De Tourtier noted that the Serbian market is becoming increasingly competitive and invited all parties to bring their most complex projects, constraints, and ambitions to Nordex, emphasizing that the company is not just a supplier but a close partner from initial concept to long-term operation.

Nordex accelerates expansion including the Balkans

Christopher Billot, Sales Director for the Mediterranean region at Nordex, stated that Albania has promising projects in the short term, and the company is following some customers into the Bulgarian market. Across the entire Eastern Mediterranean region, the company has a project portfolio of 2.3 gigawatts, of which 1.2 gigawatts have been installed, with the remainder under construction. The company has delivered 12 projects in Croatia with an operating capacity of 635 megawatts; grid-connected turbines in Greece total 452 megawatts; and grid-connected capacity in Serbia stands at 200 megawatts.
