en.Wedoany.com Reported - Eastleigh Borough Council has signed a contract with Wates, valued at an estimated £100 million, for the development and construction of the Upper Acre parcel within the One Horton Heath large-scale residential project. This is regarded as one of the largest local government housing projects in the UK at present.
Located within a 310-acre mixed-use development plan east of Eastleigh, the project will deliver 424 mixed-tenure homes, along with supporting roads, utilities, landscaping, public open spaces, and related infrastructure. This represents the second residential phase of the broader 2,500-home One Horton Heath plan.

Wates is currently delivering the first phase of the plan, responsible for constructing 381 homes on the Lower Acre parcel. The entire Horton Heath project, spanning 310 acres, will also include a local centre, a primary school, employment space, and community facilities.

Under the plan, the council is set to award the contract in January 2027, with construction commencing on site in February of the same year. The first homes are expected to be completed by September 2027, with the final plot handed over in May 2030. Planning permission for this phase was granted in March, following subsequent detailed planning approvals. Major infrastructure serving the entire development is largely complete or under construction, paving the way for the housing project to proceed.
