en.Wedoany.com Reported - A 10-acre expansion project in Salford, UK, comprising approximately 909 homes, has received government funding for site preparation, preliminary works, and detailed design. Located between Salford Central station and Manchester's Spinningfields district, the project is part of the Middlewood Locks regeneration plan.

The Brick Fields Yard plot within the expansion will feature two towers of 27 and 32 storeys, providing 659 apartments with ground-floor commercial spaces arranged around a landscaped podium garden. Another plot, Lockgate Wharf, plans to add 250 canal-side apartments overlooking a new half-acre public park adjacent to the locks connecting the Manchester, Bolton & Bury Canal and the River Irwell.

Paul Kelly, Managing Director of Scarborough Group International, stated that this financing arrangement is a significant milestone in realizing the full potential of Middlewood Locks, helping to create a sustainable new community and much-needed homes. He also revealed that construction is expected to begin early next year, with the first homes potentially available for occupancy by 2030.

The main contractor for this new phase has yet to be confirmed. Beijing Construction Engineering Group International (BCEGI), which has built all three previous residential phases of Middlewood Locks, is expected to be in a leading position to secure the latest contract after delivering the existing 1,306 homes.
