en.Wedoany.com Reported - Aircastle expects four A320neo aircraft recovered from Spirit Airlines to return to service by mid-2027. The Connecticut-based lessor retrieved one previous-generation A320 and four A320neo aircraft from the ultra-low-cost carrier, with the older aircraft likely facing teardown while the Neos are more likely to be redeployed.

Aircastle CEO Mike Inglese stated during the first fiscal quarter earnings call on July 9 that some engines on these four Neos are in "green time" lease status, and the company is working with Pratt & Whitney to finalize shop visit arrangements for other engines. By managing its own fleet, these assets are expected to return to service by mid-2027.
When asked whether engine maintenance costs have caused a "backlash" from airline customers, Inglese noted that all parties are working to protect their own interests and ensure mechanisms are in place for people to pay what is due. He stated that engine maintenance costs cannot rise indefinitely, but they are indeed much more expensive than in the past. This discussion involves negotiations on end-of-lease payments and maintenance reserves for aircraft powered by CFM International Leap-1 and Pratt & Whitney GTF engines.
As tensions in the Middle East escalate again, airlines must cope with higher fuel prices, making fuel efficiency increasingly important. This also means lessors may receive rent deferral requests from airlines most affected by rising fuel prices. Inglese added that market sentiment was optimistic two weeks ago, but overnight all parties became more cautious. Aircastle will continue to monitor developments and cooperate with specific customers as needed. The company expects rent deferral requests to persist through the remainder of the year.
