en.Wedoany.com Reported - SNIIP Joint-Stock Company (full name: Scientific Research and Manufacturing Association for Special Instrumentation, a subsidiary of the Automation Control Systems and Electrical Technology business segment of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom) has completed the equipping of the nuclear island monitoring system for Unit 3 of the Xudapu Nuclear Power Plant. The unit, located in Liaoning Province, China, is being constructed using the Russian VVER-1200 design. SNIIP experts have completed the manufacturing and installation supervision services for the hardware and software complex of the nuclear island monitoring system (SKU). Currently, commissioning of Russian-supplied monitoring equipment is underway at the Unit 3 site. The technical solutions adopted in the development of the information measurement complex for the process automation control system have been proven over many years, enabling reliable monitoring of key reactor plant parameters, equipment condition diagnostics, reactor protection functions, and fire safety protection. The scope of supply also includes laboratory equipment and a full-scale simulator.

Alexei Nikitin, General Director of SNIIP Joint-Stock Company, stated that the Chinese direction represents a series of historically significant large-scale projects for SNIIP, providing not just individual instruments but comprehensive integrated solutions for nuclear island monitoring, management, diagnostics, fire protection, and other specialized systems. These hardware and software complexes operate as part of the plant-wide automation control system, providing reliable information on the reactor plant condition and supporting critical safety functions. Currently, SNIIP has completed the phase work for Unit 3 of the Xudapu Nuclear Power Plant while continuing similar work for Unit 4 and Unit 8 of the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant. This model allows SNIIP to apply accumulated experience and a unified supply technical logic across multiple Russian VVER-1200 projects in China.

Previously, SNIIP Joint-Stock Company completed the supply and commissioning of the monitoring system for Unit 7 of the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant. Currently, four new VVER-1200 units are under construction in China, including Units 7 and 8 at the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant in Jiangsu Province, and Units 3 and 4 at the Xudapu Nuclear Power Plant. This is part of the large-scale intergovernmental cooperation plan between China and Russia for the peaceful use of atomic energy.

The Xudapu Nuclear Power Plant is a large-scale cooperation project in the nuclear energy field between China and Russia, located in Huludao City, Liaoning Province. In 2019, a series of contracts were signed, including the general contract for the construction of VVER-1200 reactors for Units 3 and 4 of the Xudapu Nuclear Power Plant and the contract for nuclear fuel supply. According to the contracts, the engineering division of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom is responsible for the design of the nuclear island of the power plant, supplying key nuclear island equipment for the two units, and providing installation supervision and commissioning supervision services for the supplied equipment. The units are scheduled to enter commercial operation in 2027-2028.
