en.Wedoany.com Reported - EarthDaily launched the EDC-08 satellite into orbit on July 7 via SpaceX's Transporter-17 mission, and the satellite has successfully established initial communications. This marks the third launch of the EarthDaily constellation, bringing the number of satellites in orbit to a level that meets commercial operational requirements.

EarthDaily Constellation achieves third successful launch, enters commercial operations phase

Configured identically to other satellites in the constellation, EDC-08 is equipped with 16 imagers capable of acquiring data across 22 spectral bands, providing the spectral depth and imaging capabilities required for the system to deliver consistent and comparable measurements across regions, seasons, and time.

The EDC-02 through EDC-07 satellites deployed in May are currently undergoing in-orbit testing and have already transmitted their first images. These images, released alongside this announcement, provide an initial demonstration of the multi-satellite performance. EarthDaily CEO Don Osborne stated that with eight satellites now in orbit, seven of which are in the commissioning phase, the satellites launched in May have returned their first images, and the system is performing as expected.

The newly released images reflect the consistency and detail that the EarthDaily constellation was designed to achieve. Although calibration and validation efforts are still ongoing, the images show that multiple satellites are serving a common measurement system specifically designed for reliable wide-area monitoring and large-scale repeatable analysis based on AI and machine learning.

Osborne noted that the EarthDaily constellation was built specifically for data consistency. Variations in atmospheric conditions, observation geometry, and sensor calibration introduce noise that accumulates in time-series analysis, reducing the reliability of data in AI workflows. The constellation addresses this through system-level strict control of geometric and radiometric calibration, high signal-to-noise ratio, and spectral alignment with the Sentinel and Landsat archives, ensuring that the generated data can be directly used in any Earth monitoring AI application and that detected changes truly reflect real events.

The EarthDaily constellation is designed for wide-area change detection, providing globally consistent, calibrated daily Earth measurement data. EDC imagery is optimized for time-series analysis and seamless integration into AI workflows, and can be paired with EarthDaily's automated change detection analytics to identify meaningful changes across broad areas—from aircraft and ships in ports to roads and infrastructure. With EDC-08 in orbit, the constellation is progressively achieving daily global land coverage, providing a continuous measurement layer for large-scale change monitoring in sectors such as defense and security, agriculture, natural resources, climate resilience, and infrastructure.
