en.Wedoany.com Reported - Italian Alfa Romeo has released the latest teaser image of an upcoming compact SUV that will eventually replace the Tonale—Stellantis ended the four-year cycle of badge-engineered production of the Tonale as the Dodge Hornet in North America in January this year.
The Italian company confirmed that the yet-to-be-named model will launch in the fourth quarter of 2027, but did not disclose whether Stellantis will sell the vehicle in the U.S. market. Dodge's recent product plans include a crossover-style hatchback called the GLH, which may be linked to this Alfa Romeo model, giving the design a second application in North America.
The new Alfa Romeo was first unveiled at Stellantis' 2026 Investor Day in May, where a 3D model showcased a low, dynamic silhouette and sharp design elements. The latest teaser image reveals the rear section, featuring broad shoulders, a sloping rear window, and horizontal LED taillights spanning the width of the vehicle.
This compact SUV will compete with the Cupra Formentor, Audi Q3 Sportback, and BMW X2. Within the Alfa Romeo lineup, it sits directly above the Junior, which is currently the brand's best-selling model.
The company stated that the C-SUV was designed by the Centro Stile design center in Turin and will be produced at the Melfi plant in Italy. Its launch timing aligns with earlier reports that Tonale production will end at the Pomigliano d'Arco facility in November 2027.

Emanuele Cappellano, Chief Operating Officer of Stellantis' Europe region, mentioned the new Alfa Romeo during a national automotive industry roundtable organized by the Italian Ministry of Enterprise and Manufacturing, stating that the C-SUV "embodies the true Alfa Romeo in character and style, and is very beautiful."
The new model is based on the STLA Medium platform and features a multi-energy powertrain, including hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric configurations—already used in Stellantis sibling models such as the Peugeot 3008, Citroen C5 Aircross, Opel Grandland, Jeep Compass, and DS No7.
Alfa Romeo is also developing a premium compact hatchback alongside the C-SUV, which will serve as the successor to the 147 and Giulietta, based on the new STLA One platform.
