en.Wedoany.com Reported - Votorantim Cimentos will invest R$260 million to expand its plant in Xambioá, Tocantins, Brazil, by building a new grinding line. The project will increase cement production capacity by 500,000 tons per year, bringing the plant's total annual capacity to 1.5 million tons by July 2028.

The expansion of the Xambioá plant is part of Votorantim Cimentos' comprehensive investment plan of R$5 billion between 2024 and 2028. The plan focuses on the company's growth and structural competitiveness in Brazil, with R$3.1 billion already being implemented. These investments cover the company's operations across all regions of Brazil, aiming to increase cement capacity, enhance competitiveness, expand the use of alternative fuels, and reduce CO2 emissions.

The capacity expansion project will proceed in parallel with the modernization of the clinker production kiln and the development of low-carbon cement technologies. Votorantim Cimentos is also advancing research to double the plant's clinker production by 2030 and expand the production of agricultural limestone sold under the Viter brand, part of its agricultural solutions business.

Osvaldo Ayres Filho, Global CEO of Votorantim Cimentos, stated that the Xambioá plant has become a benchmark for customers and markets in the northern region. The expansion investment strengthens the company's competitive positioning and reflects confidence in the growth potential of the region's states.

The Votorantim Cimentos plant in Xambioá began operations in 2009 and currently creates approximately 230 direct jobs. The plant produces cement under the Poty and Tocantins brands, supplying Tocantins, Pará, and Maranhão states. The facility uses co-processing technology for waste disposal, with 60% of the fuel used in cement production currently coming from waste and biomass, replacing petroleum coke and reducing CO2 emissions.

Votorantim Cimentos is a building materials and sustainable solutions company with a product portfolio including cement, concrete, mortar, lime, and aggregates. The company operates in nine countries across Latin America, North America, Europe, and Asia. Founded in 1936, it will celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2026.
