en.Wedoany.com Reported - Luzon Cleanergy Generation Inc., a subsidiary of Aboitiz Renewables Inc., has proposed the construction of a 136-megawatt wind farm in Bangui, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, with an estimated investment of approximately $136.37 million (around 8.4 billion Philippine pesos).
According to the company, the project will cover approximately 3,321 hectares of land across the villages of Payac, Bacsil, Malasin, Abaca, Nagbalagan, Masikil, Manayon, and San Lorenzo. The wind farm aims to harness Bangui's strong and consistent wind energy resources to generate electricity, meeting the country's growing demand for reliable and sustainable power while supporting the Philippines' renewable energy transition.
As part of the project's environmental impact assessment process, the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) in the Ilocos Region has scheduled a public consultation on July 22, 2026. The EMB stated that the public consultation will allow residents and stakeholders to raise concerns, ask questions, and submit suggestions before the project proceeds.
Luzon Cleanergy stated that the proposed wind farm will help increase the supply of reliable and affordable electricity while supporting the Philippines' renewable energy targets of 35% by 2030 and 50% by 2040. Aboitiz Renewables Inc. is implementing an expansion plan targeting 4,600 megawatts of clean energy capacity by 2030. Its renewable energy portfolio currently includes solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal projects.
One of the projects under development by the company is a hybrid solar project in Talingaan village, Laoag City, which is currently in the site selection phase. The plan includes a 187-megawatt-peak solar farm and a 277-megawatt-hour battery energy storage system, utilizing the city's dune areas.
