en.Wedoany.com Reported - Pure Data Centres Group (Pure DC) has officially launched the first phase of its AI infrastructure project in Seinäjoki, Finland, with a total planned investment exceeding €7.5 billion (approximately £6.3 billion). Once completed, it is expected to become one of the largest AI infrastructure projects in Europe.

The first phase will build a fully leased 110MW AI campus, which has already secured planning permission and grid connection, with the initial substation constructed and operational. The entire campus spans 370 acres and will provide over 550MW of AI computing capacity upon full completion. Pure DC stated that this is the largest direct investment by a UK company in Finland.

According to the company's estimates, over a ten-year construction period, this comprehensive development will create more than 3,000 jobs, with the first phase alone supporting over 1,500 positions. UK Business and Trade Secretary Peter Kyle noted that a UK company achieving the largest direct investment in Finland solidifies the UK's global leadership in AI.

The campus is being developed in partnership with SDC Ventures and is designed to support large-scale AI and machine learning workloads. The site will receive over 700MVA of renewable electricity and will feature modular 40MW data hall designs equipped with direct liquid cooling technology. Seinäjoki Mayor Jaakko Kiiskilä stated that the project will bring long-term economic benefits, with waste heat from the facility being reused through the local district heating network. The project will also support local education and retraining programs to cultivate specialized AI and digital infrastructure talent in the region.
