en.Wedoany.com Reported - China Coal Technology and Engineering Group Wuhan Design Institute has launched a full-chain intelligent early warning system service for mine slopes, integrating multi-source monitoring data with geotechnical mechanics models, aiming to shift geological disaster warnings from post-event alerts to pre-event prediction.
In open-pit mine safety monitoring scenarios, traditional methods have significant shortcomings: GNSS monitors surface displacement, inclinometers measure deep deformation, and rain gauges record rainfall, with data from different devices relatively isolated and difficult to analyze collaboratively. Such fragmented monitoring modes often trigger alarms only when a disaster is imminent, leaving very limited time for on-site response.

China Coal Technology and Engineering Group Wuhan Design Institute has built a comprehensive solution covering three stages: monitoring, analysis, and diagnosis. The geological disaster multi-source collaborative monitoring network, as the system's core, integrates various monitoring methods to achieve three-dimensional, all-weather monitoring of slope surfaces, deep structures, and environmental disaster-causing factors. Among these, the integrated fusion radar monitoring equipment independently developed by the institute boasts a monitoring frequency of over 1 Hz and measurement accuracy at the millimeter level, enabling continuous real-time capture of subtle slope deformations.

Through the intelligent analysis platform independently developed by China Coal Technology and Engineering Group Wuhan Design Institute, the system automatically identifies the coupling relationships between surface displacement, deep deformation, rainfall, and mining disturbance. When a parameter becomes abnormal, the platform comprehensively assesses whether the change is hazardous, its development trend, and whether intervention is needed, rather than simply issuing an over-limit alarm.
The key to this shift lies in the deep integration of real-time monitoring data with geotechnical mechanics mechanism models. Based on experience in the field of geotechnical mechanics, the team combines real-time monitoring data with engineering geological conditions, rock mass structural characteristics, mining disturbance processes, and stability analysis models to identify risk locations and trends, and provide disposal recommendations.

The intelligent early warning system currently covers multiple scenarios, including high slopes of open-pit mines, waste dumps, tailings ponds, goaf areas, deep foundation pits, industrial sites, and buildings (structures). In typical open-pit mine applications, the system has identified a strong correlation between surface displacement, deep deformation, and groundwater levels through continuous monitoring, leading the team to propose recommendations for groundwater control and mining optimization.
China Coal Technology and Engineering Group Wuhan Design Institute provides full-chain technical services ranging from equipment deployment and data analysis to risk assessment and disposal recommendations. The institute plans to continue leveraging its technical advantages in the geotechnical engineering field to promote the application of related technologies in more engineering safety scenarios.
