en.Wedoany.com Reported - Tajikistan's startup airline Shohin Airlines has disclosed an order for four Airbus A320neo family aircraft, including two A320neo and two A321neo. This transaction was previously recorded in Airbus's June order book as an undisclosed customer.

Shohin plans to configure the A320neo with 176 seats and the A321neo with 196 seats, both in a two-class cabin layout. The airline stated that these aircraft will form the backbone of its fleet and support services from Tajikistan to regional and global destinations.

Shohin Airlines CEO Zafar Ahmadzoda said in a statement that the first contract signed with Airbus is a milestone for both Shohin Airlines and the entire civil aviation industry of Tajikistan.

Shohin was registered in June 2025 and is headquartered in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. The airline is still preparing to commence commercial operations and has not yet announced its initial route network or first flight date.

The airline plans to enter the market at a time when capacity in Tajikistan continues to grow. OAG schedule analysis data shows that in the summer 2026 season, airlines offer approximately 1.36 million departing seats, a 5.6% increase from 1.29 million in the same period last year. Scheduled flight frequencies increased by 6.2% to over 7,200 flights.

Dushanbe accounts for approximately 915,000 departing seats, or 67% of the country's capacity. Khujand is the second-largest departure point with about 318,000 seats, followed by Kulob with 106,000, and Bokhtar with nearly 23,000.

The market is highly concentrated on Russia's Ural Airlines and Tajikistan's Somon Air. Ural Airlines is the largest operator in summer 2026, with approximately 637,000 departing seats and a 46.8% market share; Somon has about 384,000 seats, accounting for 28.2%.

Other operators flying to and from Tajikistan include Air Astana, China Southern Airlines, flydubai, Nordwind Airlines, S7 Airlines, Turkish Airlines, UTair Aviation, and Uzbekistan Airways.
