en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Kingdom of Bahrain is implementing a comprehensive reconstruction plan for the historic city of Muharraq, driving upgrades to the area's infrastructure and public spaces as a core component of its urban revitalization strategy.

This initiative is carried out under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who emphasized the importance of preserving Bahrain's urban historical and cultural heritage. His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has approved the Muharraq City Development Implementation Plan. According to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), the development plan aims to improve urban infrastructure and promote urban growth and prosperity.

Engineer Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj, Minister of Works, recently inspected ongoing development projects in Muharraq City. During the inspection, he reviewed the progress of government projects, including the Muharraq Gate project at the entrance of Shaikh Abdulla Avenue, and the development work on Shaikh Abdulla Avenue and Shaikh Isa Avenue surrounding Isa Al Kabeer Palace.

The Minister of Works stated that these projects aim to preserve Muharraq's architectural and heritage characteristics while modernizing its infrastructure. The scope of work involves road development and the upgrading of stormwater drainage, sewage, and utility networks in coordination with relevant authorities; it also includes improvements to streetscapes, lighting, commercial signage, landscaping, and parking facilities.

Al Hawaj also reviewed the progress of the reconstruction of Shaikh Hamad Avenue, which extends from the starting point of Muharraq Souq to Shaikh Isa Avenue. The project includes the construction of two multi-story parking lots with a total capacity of over 300 parking spaces, in addition to other parking facilities in the area. The Minister then listened to reports on the progress of various projects and future implementation phases, emphasizing the need for coordination among relevant authorities and highlighting the importance of adhering to the highest quality and safety standards while completing the projects on time.
