Spanish Grúas Aguilar orders 15 Liebherr cranes, 800-tonne crawler crane becomes new fleet flagship

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 20, Spanish crane rental company Grúas Aguilar ordered 15 mobile and crawler cranes from Liebherr for fleet expansion and modernization. The first units have been delivered and are already in operation, with the remaining units to be delivered in batches before the first quarter of 2027.

The most notable unit in this order is the 800-tonne class LR 1800-1.0 crawler crane, which has become the largest-capacity machine in the Grúas Aguilar fleet. With a maximum main boom length of 180 meters, the maximum system length reaches 219 meters when combined with a luffing jib, suspended counterweight, and a 39-meter fixed offset jib. This model is suitable for a variety of applications, including industrial plants, power station construction, petrochemical projects, and wind power equipment installation.

The order also includes the LTM 1400-6.1 mobile crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 450 tonnes, the first unit of this model in Spain. Other models cover the LTM 1300-6.4 (equipped with a 90-meter telescopic boom and LICCON3 control system), LTM 1060-3.1, LTM 1090-4.3, LTM 1100-5.3 mobile cranes, as well as the MK 140-5.1E mobile tower crane.

The LR 1800-1.0 has already completed its first project in Madrid, participating in the installation of the "Mayrit" tunnel boring machine for the Madrid Metro Line 11 extension project. Grúas Aguilar is headquartered in Arganda del Rey, approximately 20 kilometers southeast of Madrid, with branch offices in Burgos, Cuenca, and Palma de Mallorca. Company founder Luis Aguilar stated that nearly 90% of the company's current mobile and crawler crane fleet comes from Liebherr. The partnership between the two companies dates back to the founding of Liebherr Ibérica in 1988.
