Wedoany.com Report-Sept. 16, IB Solar, a solar module manufacturer, has received a Letter of Intent from the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) for the allotment of 25 acres of land. The land will be used for the development of a new integrated solar cell and module manufacturing facility with a planned capacity of 4 GW.

The facility will be located in Sector 8, close to the upcoming Noida International Airport in Uttar Pradesh. IB Solar plans to invest around INR 30 billion in the project, which is expected to significantly expand its production capabilities. The company currently manufactures solar panels and lithium ferro phosphate batteries, and the new plant will add advanced solar cell production to its portfolio.

According to Abhinav Mahajan, director at IB Solar, the facility will focus on producing TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) cells and modules, a technology that is increasingly recognized for its efficiency and reliability. He confirmed that the commissioning of the new facility is scheduled for 2027, positioning IB Solar to play a larger role in the country’s renewable energy manufacturing sector.

The allotment of land by YEIDA marks an important milestone for the company, as the site’s proximity to the new airport is expected to provide strong logistical advantages. The project is aligned with ongoing efforts to strengthen domestic solar manufacturing capacity and support the transition to clean energy solutions.

With the expansion, IB Solar will be able to meet growing demand for advanced solar products both within India and internationally. The company has already established itself in panel and battery production, and the addition of high-efficiency solar cells will further broaden its product range.

The investment also reflects wider trends in the renewable energy sector, where companies are prioritizing large-scale manufacturing to ensure reliable supply chains. By integrating cell and module production under one facility, IB Solar aims to enhance efficiency and reduce costs while offering advanced solar technologies to the market.

The announcement comes at a time when India is placing increasing emphasis on scaling up renewable energy infrastructure and domestic production capacity. The new facility is expected to contribute to these objectives, supporting the broader industry and meeting the rising demand for clean energy solutions.

Mahajan highlighted that the development is not only about increasing capacity but also about embracing new technologies that can deliver higher efficiency and performance. The planned commissioning in 2027 will allow IB Solar to align its output with future demand, ensuring it remains competitive in a growing and evolving market.

The project demonstrates IB Solar’s commitment to long-term growth and innovation in renewable energy manufacturing. By combining investment, technology, and strategic location, the company aims to strengthen its role as a key player in solar energy production.
