Wedoany.com Report-Sept. 28, DRI, the EU renewables division of Ukrainian utility DTEK, has acquired a 112 MW/448 MWh battery storage project in Kozienice, Poland, from Greenvolt Group. The transaction, announced in Warsaw, grants DRI the rights to develop this ready-to-build project, which already has necessary permits, approvals, and grid connection agreements in place.

The Kozienice battery storage facility will enhance grid stability in Poland and, as regional energy networks integrate, contribute to the resilience of Ukraine’s energy system. The project strengthens DRI’s presence in Poland’s renewable energy sector, increasing its total battery storage portfolio in the country to 245 MW.

Murat Cinar, chief executive of DRI, stated: “The acquisition consolidates our position in the Polish energy market.” This strategic move expands DRI’s capacity to support Poland’s transition to sustainable energy while fostering regional energy reliability.

João Manso Neto, chief executive of Greenvolt Group, commented: “The transaction aligns with our strategy of delivering high-impact projects that drive the transformation of the European energy landscape.” The sale reflects Greenvolt’s focus on advancing renewable energy initiatives across Europe.

In addition to the Kozienice project, DRI is developing 15 solar and wind energy projects in Croatia, Italy, and Romania, further expanding its renewable energy portfolio. The acquisition supports Poland’s efforts to enhance energy infrastructure and aligns with broader European goals for sustainable energy development. By integrating battery storage, the project will help balance energy supply and demand, supporting both local and regional energy needs.

The Kozienice battery storage facility is expected to create economic opportunities in the region through construction and operational phases, contributing to Poland’s growing renewable energy sector. This initiative underscores the importance of cross-border collaboration in building a sustainable and interconnected energy future.
