Wedoany.com Report-Sept. 30, Zhuhai-based SoleFiori Technology (Hongjun New Energy) has signed an agreement with Saudi partners to establish a 6 GW Heterojunction (HJT) solar module factory in Saudi Arabia. The facility will produce high-efficiency HJT modules designed for desert conditions, serving as a regional hub for Saudi Arabia and nearby markets. Details on the exact location and equity structure were not disclosed.
SoleFiori's factory in China
SoleFiori highlighted that its HJT modules deliver bifacial performance above 95%, which boosts energy yield by capturing reflected sunlight. The modules also feature a low temperature coefficient, ensuring stable output in extreme heat.
The project aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims for 40–58 GW of installed solar capacity by 2030 and mandates that 75% of components be locally manufactured. For SoleFiori, the factory strengthens its global presence and mitigates tariff risks by situating production closer to key demand. For Saudi Arabia, it promotes technology transfer, job creation, and industrial diversification.
This development reflects a broader trend in the Gulf, where the region is emerging as both a solar deployment hotspot and a manufacturing hub. Chinese PV producers are increasingly shifting from exporting modules to building local production capacity, signaling a structural change in the global solar supply chain.
SoleFiori’s move follows other Chinese investments in Saudi Arabia’s solar sector. In July 2024, JinkoSolar formed a joint venture with Renewable Energy Localization Co. and Vision Industries to build a 10 GW cell and module plant. That same month, TCL Zhonghuan announced a 20 GW ingot and wafer factory with the same partners, further expanding local manufacturing capabilities.
The new SoleFiori factory is expected to accelerate solar deployment and enhance supply chain resilience in the region. By producing high-efficiency HJT modules locally, the facility will support the growing demand for renewable energy while contributing to Saudi Arabia’s industrial and economic diversification goals.
The agreement also highlights the strategic role of partnerships between Chinese technology providers and regional stakeholders in expanding clean energy infrastructure. Through joint ventures, these projects combine advanced PV technology with local manufacturing expertise, enabling faster deployment and broader access to renewable energy solutions.
Overall, the SoleFiori Saudi HJT factory represents a key step in the Gulf’s clean energy transition, providing reliable, high-performance solar modules tailored to extreme conditions, fostering local economic growth, and reinforcing the region’s position as a regional renewable energy and manufacturing hub.
