Wedoany.com Report-Oct. 22, State-owned fertilizer producer Pupuk Indonesia announced on 20 October 2025 that it has prepared approximately 1.2 million tonnes of subsidised fertilizers for the October-March planting season, intended for registered domestic farmers. This stock is nearly three times higher than the minimum requirement set by the government.

The national subsidised fertilizer inventory includes 510,300 tonnes of urea, 610,600 tonnes of NPK fertilizers, 14,300 tonnes of special formula NPK for cocoa, 8,800 tonnes of ammonium sulfate, and 56,700 tonnes of Petroganik organic fertilizers. These stocks are already distributed across producer warehouses and buffer warehouses in districts throughout Indonesia.

In addition, Pupuk Indonesia has prepared around 480,400 tonnes of non-subsidised fertilizers for farmers unable to access subsidised products. This includes 412,400 tonnes of urea, 27,400 tonnes of NPK, and 40,700 tonnes of ammonium sulfate.

The company has set the highest retail price (HET) for subsidised fertilizers in 50 kg bags. Urea is priced at 2,250 rupiah/kg (US$136/t), NPK Phonska at 2,300 rupiah/kg (US$139/t), NPK for cocoa at 3,300 rupiah/kg (US$199/t), and organic fertilizers at 800 rupiah/kg (US$48/t). Subsidised fertilizers are designated for farmers planting rice, corn, soybeans, cassava, chili, shallots, garlic, sugarcane, cocoa, and coffee, with a maximum land area of two hectares per season.

Eligibility requires farmers to be members of a farmer group and registered in the electronic definitive group needs plan (e-RDKK). Pupuk Indonesia stated that the abundant stock levels, both subsidised and non-subsidised, aim to ensure sufficient availability for the planting season and to support domestic agricultural productivity.

By maintaining large inventories across multiple warehouse locations, Pupuk Indonesia seeks to ensure that fertilizers are accessible to farmers nationwide while stabilizing supply and preventing local shortages. The company emphasized that the HET pricing system is designed to make subsidised fertilizers affordable while targeting the support to eligible farmers in specific crops and land sizes.

The preparation of these stocks also includes quality monitoring and logistical planning to ensure timely distribution throughout the planting season. Farmers are advised to coordinate with local distributors and farmer group coordinators to access the subsidised products.

Overall, Pupuk Indonesia’s measures highlight a comprehensive approach to supporting domestic agriculture, combining sufficient stockpiles, price regulation, and eligibility verification to ensure that the October-March planting season proceeds with adequate fertilizer supply.
