Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 14, Indonesia’s cement sales fell 3.4% YoY to 6.214 Mt in October 2025, down from 6.435 Mt a year earlier, according to Asosiasi Semen Indonesia. Bagged cement accounted for 71% of total sales. All regions except Bali-Nustra reported lower demand. Bali-Nustra rose 6.5% YoY to 434,635 t from 407,987 t.
Java, the country’s largest market representing 52% of total sales, declined 0.6% YoY to 3.221 Mt from 3.239 Mt. Sumatera, contributing just over a fifth of nationwide sales, fell 0.9% YoY to 1.375 Mt from 1.387 Mt. Sulawesi saw a sharp 19.5% YoY drop to 507,941 t from 631,035 t, while Kalimantan fell 15.7% to 459,151 t from 544,606 t. Maluku-Papua decreased 4.3% YoY to 216,275 t from 225,877 t.
Cement production contracted 2.3% YoY to 6.267 Mt from 6.416 Mt. Blended cement accounted for 4.435 Mt, or 71% of production, with OPC making up the remainder. Clinker production rose 5.1% YoY to 5.383 Mt from 5.123 Mt.
Exports continued to grow, with cement shipments up 29.1% YoY to 147,553 t from 114,291 t. Clinker exports increased 26% YoY to 836,621 t from 664,023 t. East Timor was the largest market for cement, followed by Taiwan and Australia. Bangladesh was the key destination for clinker, followed by Angola and Taiwan.
For January–October 2025, cement sales contracted 1.8% YoY to 51.881 Mt, down from 52.842 Mt in the same period of 2024. Bali-Nustra and Sumatera were the only regions reporting growth, rising 8.6% YoY to 3.466 Mt and 0.3% YoY to 11.595 Mt, respectively. Java declined 0.5% YoY to 27.056 Mt. Sulawesi dropped 17.6% YoY to 4.154 Mt, Kalimantan fell 3.7% to 3.882 Mt, and Maluku-Papua decreased 4.8% YoY to 1.730 Mt.
Cement production in the first ten months of 2025 totaled 52.813 Mt, down 2.4% YoY from 54.116 Mt. Blended cement made up 35.223 Mt, or 67% of production, with OPC the remainder. Clinker output fell 0.5% YoY to 47.702 Mt from 47.961 Mt.
Overall, the data indicates a modest nationwide contraction in demand and production, with growth limited to Bali-Nustra and Sumatera, while other regions, including Java, Sulawesi, Kalimantan, and Maluku-Papua, experienced declines. Exports remain a bright spot, particularly for cement to East Timor, Taiwan, and Australia, and clinker to Bangladesh, Angola, and Taiwan.
