Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 18, Uzbekistan’s cement exports surged in the first nine months of 2025, nearly quadrupling to around 1.1 million tonnes (Mt), according to the National Statistics Committee. Export revenues for the period reached US$44.4 million, reflecting robust regional demand and improved market access.

Kyrgyzstan was the largest buyer, importing 488,700 tonnes—just over 40% of Uzbekistan’s total cement exports. Domestic cement production in Kyrgyzstan rose to 3.1 Mt over the same period, a 29.3% year-on-year increase, driven by continued construction and infrastructure investment.

Kazakhstan ranked second, importing 317,000 tonnes, followed by Afghanistan with 273,000 tonnes. Tajikistan imported a small quantity of 267 tonnes. Overall, Uzbekistan exported to four regional markets—Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan—with combined volumes up 794,600 tonnes compared with the same period in 2024, representing a 3.8-fold increase.

The rise in exports is linked to ongoing expansion of Uzbekistan’s cement production capacity and improved logistics within Central Asia, allowing producers to supply neighboring markets more efficiently. Regional demand, especially in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, has been supported by infrastructure projects, residential construction, and broader economic growth.

Qazcem, Kazakhstan’s cement association, recently highlighted high tariffs that have effectively limited Kazakh cement imports into Uzbekistan. Despite this, Uzbek exporters have capitalized on strong demand in other regional markets.

With Kyrgyzstan continuing to take the largest share of shipments, Uzbekistan is expected to maintain strong cross-border cement trade in 2026, provided that regional construction activity remains active and transportation links continue to support efficient logistics.

The export growth underscores Uzbekistan’s strategic position as a key cement supplier in Central Asia and reflects the country’s efforts to enhance production capabilities and regional market connectivity. Expansion of capacity, coupled with stable transport networks, is expected to sustain competitiveness and enable further revenue gains from cement exports in the near term.

This trend also highlights the role of regional infrastructure development in driving cement demand. Investments in housing, roads, and public facilities across neighboring countries are supporting the continued uptake of Uzbek cement, reinforcing the importance of regional trade flows and cross-border industrial cooperation.

Overall, Uzbekistan’s cement sector is experiencing a period of rapid growth, with exports increasingly contributing to foreign revenue and strengthening its regional trade presence. The combination of production expansion, logistical improvements, and rising regional demand positions the country to sustain its export momentum into 2026.
