Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 20, Pacgold has commenced its maiden drilling programme at the St George gold-antimony project, located approximately 70 km west of Mt Carbine in north-east Queensland, Australia. The initial reverse circulation (RC) campaign targets high-grade gold and antimony-bearing veins at the St George prospect, testing their continuity at depth.
The planned initial drilling phase consists of nine holes totalling 900m, with completion targeted within two weeks.
The programme follows surface rock-chip sampling and detailed mapping that identified exceptionally high-grade mineralisation along a strike length of approximately 10 km. The current phase focuses on a 1 km zone around the historic St George antimony mine and comprises nine holes for a total of 900 metres. Drilling is expected to be completed within two weeks, with assay results anticipated within six weeks thereafter.
Pacgold has scheduled follow-up drilling at the nearby Fence and Ridgeline prospects for 2026 as exploration progresses across the broader target area.
Pacgold managing director Matthew Boyes said: “The commencement of our maiden drilling programme at St George marks an exciting new phase for Pacgold. Recent rock chip sampling has confirmed the presence of extremely high-grade gold-antimony zones, and this first-pass RC programme is designed to test the potential of the first of these three exciting targets, with many more to come as exploration activity increases.
“St George is emerging as a compelling new opportunity within our portfolio, and we look forward to updating shareholders as results begin to flow.”
The St George project covers a 905 km² tenement package within the developing Hodgkinson antimony province. It consists of seven tenements, five of which are granted and two under application. Pacgold can earn up to a 100 percent interest through a staged farm-in agreement.
The company continues to advance its exploration portfolio in North Queensland and South Australia. Earlier this year, Pacgold announced a maiden indicated and inferred mineral resource for its Alice River gold project in the southern Savannah Province of North Queensland.
The St George drilling represents the first systematic subsurface testing of a highly prospective gold-antimony system that remains largely unexplored at depth, offering potential for new discoveries in an established mineral province.
