Wedoany.com Report-Dec.22, China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) announced on December 21, 2025, that the Bohai Oilfield, the country's largest offshore oil and gas production area, has achieved a record output of more than 40 million tonnes of oil equivalent in 2025.

As China's primary offshore oilfield in terms of production volume and operational scale, this milestone contributes significantly to national energy supply stability and supports sustained economic and social progress, the company stated.

Located in the Bohai Sea, the oilfield currently manages operations across more than 60 active oil and gas fields. Its cumulative crude oil production has now surpassed 600 million tonnes. In the past five years, annual oil and gas output from the field has increased by an average of 5 percent, according to CNOOC.

The Bohai Oilfield is also progressing with initiatives focused on digital upgrading and environmental improvement. Notable advancements include the successful application of China's first independently developed shallow-water subsea production system, marking progress in domestic equipment manufacturing.

Additionally, more than 80 percent of the oilfield's platforms are now supplied with electricity from onshore grids, reducing reliance on offshore generation and aligning with broader efficiency goals.

These achievements reflect ongoing efforts to enhance operational capabilities while incorporating advanced technologies and sustainable practices in offshore energy development.
