A consortium comprising Italy's Saipem and China's Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. (COOEC) recently secured an Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) contract from QatarEnergy. This project is part of the "North Field Production Sustainability Offshore Compression Project," with a total contract value of approximately $4 billion.

The contract was awarded by QatarEnergy LNG. According to the agreement, the consortium will be responsible for the design, procurement, construction, and installation of two offshore compression complexes. Each complex includes a compression platform, a living quarters platform, a flare platform, and connecting bridges. QatarEnergy stated that this project is a crucial component of its strategy to maintain and enhance the production capacity of the North Field, a globally significant gas field.

Saipem indicated that its share of this contract is approximately $3.1 billion, with an expected project execution period of five years. Offshore installation operations are planned for around 2029 and 2030, utilizing the company's "Dehe" construction vessel. This collaboration marks a continuation of QatarEnergy's partnership with both companies. Saipem has previously secured construction contracts for other phases of this gas field.
