Coatings manufacturer PPG (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA) recently launched the PPG STEELGUARD 652 high-performance water-based intumescent fireproof coating, which is now available in the North American market. This fireproof coating is specifically developed for general interior structural steel components, aiming to provide long-lasting protective performance while also considering aesthetics.

As a cellulose passive fireproof coating, the PPG STEELGUARD 652 water-based fireproof coating can provide up to two hours of fire protection. It has obtained UL (Underwriters Laboratories) 263 certification, giving architects, engineers, and building owners confidence that the product's performance meets industry standards.

This coating uses a water-based formula with low volatile organic compound (VOC) content, helping to support more sustainable construction practices. Key features include: long-lasting protective performance for up to 20 years; tested to provide two hours of fire protection; UL 263 certification; low VOC emissions, facilitating efficient trade stacking on complex job sites; easy on-site application using standard PFP airless spray equipment, ensuring smooth, consistent coverage.
