Wedoany.com Report on Feb 25th, Contrivian has entered into a merger agreement with Big Network, aiming to integrate both companies' edge connectivity and transport control software in the field of hybrid networks (covering fiber, broadband, LTE/5G, and low Earth orbit satellites). The combined entity will operate under the Contrivian brand, and the transaction is subject to customary closing procedures.

Both companies focus on providing connectivity software for organizations that require predictable network performance across multiple access types. The core of this merger is integrating Big Network's multi-WAN and edge connectivity technology into Contrivian's Lighthouse platform, which monitors network status and intelligently selects the optimal path.

Contrivian plans to integrate Big Network's Ethernet transport layer functionality into Lighthouse to extend traffic orchestration to the edge and enhance failover capabilities across connections. The Lighthouse platform continuously assesses network conditions and dynamically routes traffic, while Contrivian also offers the standalone North Star platform for centralized visibility and management of global deployments.

The software developed by Big Network targets edge deployments requiring resilient multi-WAN connectivity, including static IP continuity via satellite and wireless networks, remote IT infrastructure access, and transparent Layer 2 services. The combined solution is particularly suitable for government and public sectors reliant on hybrid connections, which often combine fixed and wireless links to ensure consistent performance during disasters or outages.

Grant Kirkwood, CEO of Contrivian, stated, "This merger deepens our control at the network layer. We are not just combining access types; we are building a unified software-defined architecture by intelligently orchestrating multimodal connectivity to protect application performance across fiber, wireless, and low Earth orbit satellites. This enables Contrivian to support mission-critical applications and meet the most stringent network demands. We welcome the Big Network team to join us in driving Contrivian's next phase of growth."

Tom Daly, President and CEO of Big Network, will join Contrivian's board of directors and serve as Chief Technology Expert. Daly noted, "Big Network was designed to address large-scale edge challenges. Integrating with the Contrivian architecture will provide deeper transport intelligence and predictable connectivity outcomes across networks, which is significant in the market. We look forward to innovating together."

Contrivian emphasized the growing importance of low Earth orbit satellites in hybrid connectivity planning, as this service is often used for remote sites and resilience scenarios, especially when terrestrial links may be disrupted. The company anticipates more LEO constellations will become commercialized, and the combined platform can manage multiple satellite networks within a single software framework.

Financial details, closing dates, or integration milestones were not disclosed by either party. Contrivian serves sectors such as the public sector, healthcare, energy, and finance, while Big Network focuses on multi-access edge deployment software. This merger is expected to enhance LEO hybrid network software solutions, supporting real-time failover and intelligent path control for critical infrastructure.
