Since the winter of 2025-2026, several airlines from the United States and Canada have added multiple new international air routes directly to Nassau, bringing more capacity to this Bahamian city. These new services further enrich Nassau's air network ahead of the 2026 Routes Americas conference.

Following its hosting of the Routes Americas conference in 2025, Nassau has welcomed an expansion of air services. Air Canada, Delta Air Lines, Breeze Airways, and Porter Airlines have all launched new routes. Simultaneously, WestJet has increased flight frequencies, and Frontier Airlines has resumed its Atlanta to Nassau service.

Recently launched routes to Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau include Air Canada's flights from Halifax and Ottawa, as well as Delta Air Lines' route from Minneapolis. Porter Airlines has also added three routes from Toronto Pearson, Ottawa, and Montreal, operated using Embraer 195-E2 aircraft.

Breeze Airways plans to enter the market in June, launching flights from Tampa. This route will operate twice weekly using Airbus A220 aircraft, becoming the airline's fourth international destination.

This series of new direct flights has expanded Nassau's air network to 48 markets in the United States, Canada, Latin America, and Europe. Growth in the Canadian market is particularly notable, with seat capacity in February 2026 increasing by 121% year-on-year.

Joy Jibrilu, CEO of the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board, stated: "As the gateway to The Bahamas, our air connectivity strategy continues to be rooted in improving accessibility, reliability, and fostering meaningful relationships with our airline partners."

"Since hosting Routes Americas, we have intensified our focus on strategic markets, increasing connectivity and launching new routes that align with visitor demand and long-term sustainability."

Jibrilu noted that hosting the event allowed Nassau to move beyond route discussions and focus on operations and market realities. "A key outcome was the ability to provide attendees with a firsthand experience of Nassau and Paradise Island," she said. "Experiencing the destination firsthand enhanced our value proposition and supported meaningful, data-driven conversations around future air services."

The growth in air services comes against a backdrop of record demand. The Bahamas reported 12.5 million tourist arrivals in 2025, an 11.4% year-on-year increase, providing a stronger foundation for airlines to evaluate new routes and return services to Nassau.

Looking ahead, Nassau's air service development efforts will focus on sustaining recent gains while selectively pursuing additional international growth. "Our air service development priorities center on strengthening relationships with airline partners while pursuing new market opportunities and maintaining the success of existing routes," Jibrilu added.

Latin America remains a long-term focus through ongoing collaboration with Copa Airlines, while the United Kingdom also continues to be a priority market.
