Wedoany.com Report on Mar 2nd, Flow Power has acquired the Dunedoo Energy Project located in the Warren-Bungil Shire of New South Wales, Australia, a nationally significant project with development approval. This Dunedoo Energy Project will advance the renewable energy transition by providing clean power to the region through a combination of solar and battery storage technology.
The Dunedoo Energy Project, previously held by ib vogt GmbH, is situated approximately 2 kilometers north of Dunedoo. The planned facility includes a 55-megawatt solar farm and a 60-megawatt battery energy storage system, forming an integrated energy solution. Flow Power will be responsible for the project's development, construction, ownership, and operation, with construction expected to commence in 2026. Upon completion, the project will occupy 92 hectares of land, installing approximately 175,000 solar panels to generate sufficient green energy to power up to 20,000 homes and businesses.
The approved design involves connection to Essential Energy's Dunedoo substation via a new 66-kilovolt transmission line, accompanied by substation upgrade plans. The Dunedoo Energy Project is anticipated to deliver multiple benefits: employing advanced solar-plus-storage technology to provide lower-cost clean energy, helping to reduce grid emissions. Solar panels will charge the battery storage system during the day, which will then discharge to the grid when renewable generation is insufficient, ensuring stable power supply and supporting the renewable energy transition; increasing renewable energy supply, reducing the impact of fossil fuel generation on prices, and fostering more competitive wholesale market outcomes; enhancing grid reliability, with the battery storage system capable of rapid response during peak demand or outages; and driving regional investment, including a Community Benefit Scheme to be developed in collaboration with the local community and council and implemented from the start of operations.
Mark Raymond, Head of Project Development at Flow Power, stated: "Bringing the Dunedoo Energy Project into our growing renewable energy portfolio is a key step forward for Flow Power. We look forward to working with the local community to build and operate this facility." This Dunedoo Energy Project will further strengthen New South Wales' renewable energy infrastructure, contributing to sustainable energy development.
