Shandong Heze Yuhuang Chemical Co., Ltd. recently initiated the environmental impact assessment acceptance and public consultation for its 200,000 tons/year polystyrene product optimization and upgrade project. The public consultation period is from February 27, 2026, to March 11, 2026, totaling 10 working days. The project is located within the company's existing plant area and is categorized as a technical upgrade, aiming to optimize the product portfolio through production line enhancements.

The polystyrene technical upgrade project plans to modify two existing production lines. After the upgrade, the total capacity will be adjusted to 174,000 tons/year. The specific modifications include: one production line will produce styrene-methyl methacrylate copolymer (MS resin) with an annual capacity of 75,000 tons; the other production line will simultaneously produce polystyrene (PS resin) and styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer (SMA resin), with an annual capacity of 90,000 tons for PS resin and 9,000 tons for SMA resin. Upon completion, the overall production scale will be reduced by 26,000 tons.

The project primarily relies on existing production units and public utilities, reusing approximately 184 pieces of equipment such as reactors and devolatilizers. New additions include approximately 6 pieces of equipment for methyl methacrylate and maleic anhydride unloading facilities, storage tanks, and transfer pumps, covering an additional area of about 0.8 mu. The total investment is 175.79 million yuan, with 500,000 yuan allocated for environmental protection, accounting for 0.28% of the total. The construction period is expected to be 2 months, with the goal of completion and commissioning by June 2026.
