This agreement aims to adjust the terms of electricity procurement to address challenges arising from operational disruptions at the Mundra plant.

The Mundra power plant is a coal-based project located in the Kutch district of Gujarat, India, with a total installed capacity of 4,000 MW. It comprises five units of 800 MW each and supplies power to five states. Recently, the plant temporarily ceased operations due to losses incurred from plant closures, which prompted the signing of this supplementary agreement.

In addition to the agreement with GUVNL, Coastal Gujarat Power Limited is also expected to enter into similar agreements with distribution companies in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana. These measures aim to optimize power supply arrangements and ensure stable electricity provision to the concerned regions.
