en.Wedoany.com Report on Mar 30th, TotalEnergies and Électricité de France (EDF) have recently signed a 12-year nuclear power allocation contract, which will officially take effect on January 1, 2028. According to the contract, EDF will allocate a portion of its nuclear power plant output to TotalEnergies to support the operation of TotalEnergies' refining and petrochemical sites in France.TotalEnergies and EDF Sign Nuclear Power Supply Agreement

This nuclear power supply agreement is expected to cover approximately 60% of TotalEnergies' electricity needs for its industrial sites in France, equivalent to a supply of about 400 megawatts. Through this collaboration, TotalEnergies will gain access to competitive low-carbon electricity, while EDF will share part of the risks and costs associated with fluctuations in nuclear power production while maintaining independent operational responsibility for its assets.

Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, stated: "This win-win agreement is the result of constructive dialogue. It will enable our high electricity-consuming industrial sites in France to secure a stable share of power supply with competitive low-carbon electricity in the long term."

Bernard Fontana, Chairman and CEO of EDF, added: "I welcome this agreement with TotalEnergies, which contributes to energy and industrial sovereignty. By providing competitive, sovereign, and low-carbon electricity for the relevant refining and petrochemical activities, EDF offers them the long-term visibility needed to ensure sustainability."
