en.Wedoany.com Report on Mar 30th, German cleantech company Ineratec and French industrial firm Tertu have jointly established a joint venture named T.H2, aiming to build a biomass-based e-fuels production facility near Caen, France. The project plans to utilize approximately 60,000 tons of wood waste, processing it into eSAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) and e-naphtha to support Europe's green energy transition.
T.H2 has completed the preliminary engineering phase and is preparing to apply for funding support from the European Innovation Fund, with the goal of putting the plant into operation by 2029. The production capacity of this e-fuels plant has not yet been disclosed, but it marks a strategic shift for Ineratec, which previously focused on e-fuels projects combining green hydrogen and biogenic CO2 and has been operating a pilot facility in Frankfurt since 2025.
Europe's new energy policies are driving demand growth. For example, the ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation requires at least 10% of aviation fuel to come from sustainable aviation fuels by 2030, and the FuelEU Maritime Regulation also sets limits on ship emissions. Industry participants warn that delays in adopting e-fuels could lead to adverse consequences. HyFive stated: "This could lead to adverse consequences when policy demands finally take effect."
