This appointment aims to prepare for independent operations post-transaction.

Dr. Uta Holzenkamp will continue to lead BASF Coatings until the transaction is completed and will support Luehring during the transition period. The deal, initially announced in October 2025, still requires regulatory approvals and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2026, at which point BASF Coatings will operate as an independent coatings technology company.

Luehring has over 20 years of experience in corporate transformation, spin-offs, and mergers and acquisitions, including leadership roles in the industrial gases sector. BASF Coatings stated that his background includes leading the spin-off and development of a private equity-backed independent business, which will help drive the independent transformation of the BASF Coatings business.

Holzenkamp has been leading BASF Coatings since 2022 and will continue to support the transition after the deal closes. The company highlighted her role in preparing the business for separation and maintaining operational stability, ensuring the smooth operation of BASF Coatings during the transaction period.

The transaction involves the sale of BASF's automotive OEM coatings, automotive refinish coatings, and surface treatment businesses, positioning the new entity as an independent coatings technology company. The BASF Coatings business will embrace new opportunities under Luehring's leadership.
