en.Wedoany.com Reported - Ceccanti, a construction company headquartered in Tacoma, Washington, has taken delivery of the first Grove GHC220 telescopic boom crawler crane in North America.

Ceccanti chose this 220-ton class machine for its combination of high lifting capacity, fast setup, and strong maneuverability. The quick assembly and lifting capabilities make the crane a versatile solution for congested, complex projects. The new unit was supplied by Western Pacific Crane & Equipment, a dealer serving the Pacific Coast region from San Diego to Alaska and Guam. Western Pacific stated that its robust field support and parts supply enable timely service responses and efficient fleet maintenance. The company worked alongside the Grove product support team to assist Ceccanti with commissioning, providing a comprehensive overview of the crane's features and technology to maximize efficiency and uptime.

The GHC220 is currently working on the Gravelly-Thorne Connector project, a 1.3-mile-long, 14-foot-wide multi-use path along Interstate 5 between Tillicum and Gravelly Lake Drive Southwest in Lakewood, Washington.

Upon completion of this project, the GHC220 will be deployed on the project that initially drove the purchase decision: constructing a 1.25-million-gallon underground storage tank in Seattle. The West Duwamish Wet Weather Storage Facility will capture stormwater and wastewater currently overflowing into the Duwamish River and divert it to a treatment plant. The work involves lifting loads of 15 tons and above, including combination formwork up to 36 feet, and moving between different locations, sometimes requiring the crane to travel with a load to reach new positions.

Jon VanderGriend, Vice President and Chief Estimator at Ceccanti, said: "We purchased this GHC220 with the tank project in mind because it's a perfect fit for this application. We are very excited about this machine. It's a busy job site, and the GHC220's ease of assembly and lifting capabilities make it ideal for reaching every location on site."

The GHC220 is Grove's largest telescopic boom crawler crane, offering heavy-lift capacity and exceptional working range. New features include a 90% position latching point added to the boom section to enhance capacity and versatility during setup. When configured with a 71.5-foot manual or hydraulic folding jib, the maximum tip height reaches 265.7 feet. With a non-level load chart, the crane can lift at 100% of the load chart on slopes up to 4 degrees while maintaining 360-degree swing capability. The GHC220 can be transported to the job site in 6 to 7 truckloads and offers rapid self-assembly capability.

VanderGriend said: "We believe our future is moving toward machines like the GHC that can deliver high capacity while maintaining fast assembly and deployment capabilities. We are very excited about this machine. It combines the efficiency and lifting capacity of a rough-terrain crane with the functionality of a crawler crane."

The new GHC220 is the eighth Manitowoc crane in Ceccanti's fleet. This growing fleet is supported not only by Western Pacific Crane & Equipment's parts and service but also by Manitowoc's comprehensive aftermarket solutions suite, including training and digital tools.
