en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, the 80MW photovoltaic project in Nabong, Vientiane, Laos, achieved full capacity grid connection and power supply. Invested and constructed by Yunnan Energy Group, this project has become a large-scale centralized photovoltaic power station successfully integrated into the national main grid of Laos, setting a new record for the installed capacity and energy storage capacity of a single photovoltaic project in Laos.

Mr. Sonexay Siphandone, Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, attended the ceremony. Mr. Wang Zhixiang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Labor Union of Yunnan Energy Group, and Mr. Bountham Phandola, Deputy General Manager of Electricite du Laos, delivered speeches on behalf of the cooperating parties. Wang Zhixiang stated that Yunnan Energy Group actively integrates into the "Belt and Road" initiative and promotes energy connectivity with Laos. This project is a new benchmark for the group's overseas renewable energy projects and the second large-scale centralized photovoltaic power station successfully connected to the national main grid of Laos, following the Sebangfay photovoltaic project. The project encountered various challenges during construction, but through collaborative efforts between China and Laos, it was successfully completed and connected to the grid. Bountham Phandola noted that the project will effectively ensure the power supply in central Laos, particularly in Vientiane, enhancing the stability and security of energy supply, while marking significant progress in Laos' clean electricity energy development, economic and social growth, and sustainable energy development.

The official grid connection and commercial operation of the 80MW photovoltaic project in Nabong, Vientiane, represents an important achievement in China-Laos energy cooperation. The project has an annual power generation capacity of 145.6 million kWh, with an average annual utilization hours of 1,437.5 hours. It can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 132,800 tons, sulfur dioxide emissions by about 16.19 tons, and nitrogen oxide emissions by about 24.39 tons per year. While creating a large number of jobs, the project also contributes tax and concession revenue to the Lao government annually, promotes the localization of operation and maintenance technical services, and supports Laos' green and low-carbon development and electricity export strategy.

Relevant leaders from the Lao side, the Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Laos, as well as relevant personnel from the Yunnan Energy Group office, Hong Kong company, Laos new energy company, and project construction units jointly attended the grid connection and power supply ceremony.
