en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) will participate in a series of events in Chile and Peru from June 2 to 12, showcasing the current state of Australia's mining sector, strengthening international cooperation, and highlighting Australia's capabilities, experience, and leadership in the natural resources sector across two of the world's major mining jurisdictions.

This tour will bring together industry leaders, technical experts, and strategic partners to deliver a program of high-level events spanning government, industry, and academia. The agenda includes networking events for AusIMM members in Santiago and Lima, a forum on future mining trends in collaboration with the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade Chile), and participation in Exponor 2026.

Led by AusIMM Chief Executive Officer Stephen Durkin, the delegation will highlight the Institute's global leadership in advancing professional standards and technical capabilities through world-class professional development programs, while strengthening relationships with industry and government in Latin America. The initiative reflects the growing strategic importance of Australia-Latin America cooperation, particularly as the global natural resources industry addresses rising demand for critical minerals, accelerating technological change, and heightened expectations for sustainability and social performance.

AusIMM has also announced the expansion of its Spanish-language online course portfolio in response to growing demand for internationally recognized technical training in Latin America. In addition to its flagship tailings management course, the new Spanish-language portfolio will include topics such as ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and social responsibility, water management, and underground mining. These courses will be developed starting September 2026. Meanwhile, a new scholarship program provides students and mining professionals in Chile and Peru with access to select online technical courses from the Institute.

Mr. Durkin stated that the tour demonstrates AusIMM's commitment to strengthening global mining capabilities and fostering long-term industry leadership. "Our presence in the region aligns closely with the goal of advancing shared national interests," he said. "Mining is vital to our nation's economic prosperity and global standing. In both Australia and Latin America, our industry faces the global energy transition, a profound digital transformation, and an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape. The need for expertise, high professional standards, and international collaboration has never been more critical. This tour is an opportunity to showcase Australian mining on a global stage, strengthen strategic relationships, and highlight our members—both in Australia and Latin America—as global benchmarks in their respective fields."

The tour is supported by AusIMM's international partner Accenture, as well as principal sponsors Byrnecut, Fleet Space Technologies, Sandvik, and Sedgman, along with the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade).
