en.Wedoany.com Reported - Camphor Tree Maritime, an affiliate of Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), has taken delivery of a new very large crude carrier (VLCC). The vessel was built by Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (DACKS).

The Himalayasan has an overall length of 339.5 meters, a beam of 60 meters, a deadweight tonnage of 310,026 tons, a gross tonnage of 166,708 tons, and a liquid cargo tank capacity of 352,151 cubic meters. This LNG dual-fuel VLCC is equipped with a MAN B&W 7G80ME-C10.5-GI-HPSCR main engine, capable of operating on both liquefied natural gas and low-sulfur fuel oil, and integrates an exhaust gas after-treatment system. According to Kawasaki Heavy Industries, when using LNG fuel, the vessel's CO2 emissions are reduced by approximately 25% to 30% compared to conventional heavy fuel oil-powered ships, SOx emissions are reduced by 100%, and NOx emissions are reduced by about 85%.

The LNG dual-fuel VLCC is registered in Panama, built to the classification of Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK), with a service speed of approximately 15.45 knots and accommodation for 37 crew members. This is the third LNG-powered VLCC delivered by the Kawasaki Group. MOL previously ordered a series of LNG dual-fuel VLCCs from DACKS. The first vessel in the series was delivered at the end of 2025, and the Himalayasan, delivered this time, is the second in the series. As an LNG dual-fuel VLCC in MOL's fleet, it meets the requirements of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) Phase 3.
