This agreement aligns with Dow's self-generation strategy for energy, enabling the company to directly access renewable energy and improve the predictability of energy costs for its industrial operations. Palmyra is involved in the production of metallic silicon and active silica, with operations located in the municipalities of São Domingos do Prata in Minas Gerais and Breu Branco in Pará.

The partnership was approved by the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade) on June 18 and was publicly announced by the two companies in March of this year.

The four special purpose companies involved in the agreement are Fótons de Santa Carolina, Fótons de Santo Emiliano, Fótons de Santa Heloisa, and Fótons de São Leonardo. These assets are located in the municipality of Paranaíba, Mato Grosso do Sul, and are part of the Seriemas Solar Complex. The solar complex has an installed capacity of approximately 400 MW and is expected to begin operations in September of this year.

Casa dos Ventos stated to Cade that the transaction provides investment and expansion opportunities for its renewable energy projects in Brazil.

Dow currently has multiple self-generation partnerships in the power sector, including the Juazeiro Solar V to VIII photovoltaic power plants with a total installed capacity of 157.1 MW, the Lar do Sol IV to VI photovoltaic power plants with a total installed capacity of 297 MW, and the São Leopoldo, São Luís, and São Luigi wind farms with a total installed capacity of 199.5 MW. These solar power plants are located in Bahia and Minas Gerais, while the wind farms are located in Rio Grande do Norte.
